American Airlines Boeing 737
PASSENGER SAFETY INFORMATION CARD

Introduction:

Once on-board the aircraft and seated, there is normally a range of welcoming on board and in-flight information providing guidelines for passengers' safety and comfort. Most of the guidelines are in fact mandatory under Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations. Flight deck crew are specially trained in all aspects relating to the safety and security of their passengers. Refusal of passengers to obey the lawful commands of the Captain and crew are breaking the law and as such are liable to prosecution under the terms of the Air Navigation Act.

Usually during taxing, cabin crew will ensure that the safety guidelines for the aircraft are made clear to passengers. Among the announcements will be reference, with visual reinforcement, to the aircraft's exit doors, oxygen masks etc. The Airlines' In-Flight Magazine normally stresses that it is important, prior to takeoff, that passengers read the 'Passenger Safety Information Card' which is in the aircrafts' seat pocket in front of them.

What's Included:

The 'Passenger Safety Information Card' has been reproduced here for an American Airlines Boeing B737 aircraft - designed to be slightly soiled due to passenger use! The cards themselves are in two parts, each part depicting different safety aspects.

Although different airlines will of course have their own design Safety Cards, the general format for a specified aircraft (in this case the Boeing 737) will be pretty much standard.

'Passenger Safety Information Cards' have also been designed and developed for the following airlines:
- American Airlines (This card)
- British Airways
- Inter European
- Palmair European
- Virgin Express

and can be downloaded from SurClaro.

Installation:

If you are reading this document then you will have successfully unzipped the compressed file '737safaa.zip' and have the following information files under the folder '737_safety':-

File_id.diz Compressed Zip Identification text file.
737_safety_aacard.doc Microsoft Word 7-format readme document file. [This file]
737_safety_aacard.txt Microsoft Word Pad Text format version of 737_safety_?card.doc file.

In addition you will have four other files contain the safety card relevant files:-

1. American Airlines 'Passenger Safety Information Card' in Bitmap files (*.bmp) format

737aa_safety1.bmp American Airlines Passenger Safety Card - side 1.
737aa_safety2.bmp American Airlines Passenger Safety Card - side 2.

2. American Airlines 'Passenger Safety Information Card' in JPEG files (*.jpg) format

737aa_safety1.jpg American Airlines Passenger Safety Card - side 1.
737aa_safety2.jpg American Airlines Passenger Safety Card - side 2.

To Reproduce the 'Passenger Safety Information Card'

To reproduce the 'Passenger Safety Information Card' simply activate your favourite Paint program (e.g. Windows Pbrush, msPaint, Paint Shop Pro, etc), open the 737??_safety1.bmp image you wish to printout and print (in colour) to A4 paper. Repeat the process for the 737??_safety2.bmp image on the reverse side of the A4 printout containing the first image. Alternatively, print the second image on to a fresh A4 sheet and mount, back-to-back, on a cardboard card for support. Ideally the cardboard card should be placed inside a transparent plastic cover for protection.

The Passenger Safety Information Card images can be loaded into a Web Browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer) - in this case open the 737??_safety?.jpg image you wish to printout and print (in colour) to A4 paper.

All you have to do now is to place your card in your homemade cockpit, either on the back-of-your-seat or outside the cockpit on the wall for passenger reference. Enjoy these Passenger Safety Information Cards for what they are - adding that very small touch of reality to the virtual pilots' experience!
